Charles and William Poe papers, 1885-1982.

Summary: Collection consists primarily of the professional papers of Charle Poe and his son William Andrew Poe. Charles Poe's papers (1885- 1949) include field notes, plats, ledgers, and other records of mining operations in the Cook's Peak Mining District, Luna County, New Mexico. William A. Poe's papers (1916-1982) include correspondence and other materials concerning his military career. Most of William Poe's papers are on his participation in the New Mexico National Guard and his deployment at Columbus, New Mexico following Pancho Villa's raid there in 1916. Also within the collection are newspapers and clippings on various aspects of New Mexico history.
